AMEC Awarded Worldwide U.S. Navy
Fuel Facilities Contract
Plymouth Meeting, PA, Tuesday,
August 25, 2009
AMEC, the international
engineering and project management company, is among
five companies to be selected by the U.S. Navy for up to
US$350 million in repair and modernization projects
involving petroleum, oil and lubricant (POL) facilities
worldwide.
The multiple-award contract with
the Naval Facilities Engineering Services Center (NFESC)
is a five-year construction contract in which projects
will be awarded individually as task orders. Task orders
will range from $50,000 to $4 million and involve the
design, engineering, inspection, testing and
construction of fuel systems and their various
components. Services will include all aspects of project
execution.
"This contract represents a
major client's acknowledgement of our worldwide
expertise and expanded services in the federal energy
arena," remarked Doug Hayes, AMEC's principal in charge.
"It is a critical milestone toward achieving our vision
of becoming a top provider of fuels expertise to U.S.
government facilities"
Engineer Ed Znoj, AMEC's program
manager, stated: "We have assembled a team of
world-class experts with all of the capabilities needed
to address the full scope of fuel systems engineering
services at locations around the world" AMEC is teamed
with Robert & Company, a service-disabled veteran-owned
small business and an international leader in fueling
system engineering and design. The AMEC team also
includes four specialty subcontractors: Corrosion
Control, Inc.; HMT Inc.; Landmark Structures,
Inc.; and KCI Technologies Inc.
Specific projects will be
competitively awarded as task orders. Projects typically
will involve construction, repair, modification and
upgrade of any components of POL systems, including
underground and above-ground storage tanks, on-land and
underwater pipelines, pumps, meters, electrical systems,
infrastructure utilities, and any other equipment,
buildings or structures associated with fuel operations.
Awards will be based on a determination of the best
value to the government, rather than on lowest price.
"AMEC is well suited for these
types of task-order awards due to our ability to bring a
high level of expertise to difficult challenges while
fulfilling the Navy's desire for an environmental
sustainable solution," said Executive Vice President
Paul Pettit, AMEC's corporate sponsor.
The other four companies
selected by the Navy were Innovative Technical
Solutions, Shaw Environmental, Weston Solutions and
Willbros Government Services.
